Cracks in a tiled installation are often the result of deformations and cracks in the substrate being transferred to the surface.
Schlüter®-DITRA, available from European Heritage, is a polyethylene membrane which safeguards tiled installations over any even and load bearing substrate by neutralising differential movement of the substrate and tiles.
Also, it can surprise customers that tiled installations cannot be guaranteed waterproof without additional waterproofing protection such as Schlüter®-DITRA and Schlüter®-KERDI, which are the type of impervious membranes recommended by the tiling codes of practice.
Schlüter®-DITRA acts as an uncoupling, waterproofing and vapour-equalisation layer for floor tiles, while Schlüter®-KERDI forms the waterproofing in conjunction with wall tiles.
